Membership Eligibility

Greater Kinston Credit Union is a member-owned, not-for-profit cooperative. The field of membership in this credit union is limited to those persons and groups having a common bond of association, occupation, interest or residence.

To join the Greater Kinston Credit Union, eligible persons should visit the branch office. All members are required to open and maintain a basic share account. The minimum deposit to open a share account is $5. Membership continues as long as the share account is open.

Membership Eligibility Requirements

Persons who live, work, worship or attend school and / or businesses, associations and societies located in the following counties:

  • Lenoir
  • Greene
  • Jones
  • Craven
  • Pitt

Individuals seeking membership are required to have the following:

  • A valid state/government issued photo ID
  • A valid SSN or ITIN (Individual Tax Identification Number)
  • If the address on the photo ID is not current, please have proof of the current address such as a utility bill in your name (electric, gas, water, cable or phone bill)
